What We See – Signs of Life

What We SeeIt is amazing how our position – or our disposition – can change what we see. Last weekend we wrapped up our Signs of Life series, looking at the healing of the man who was born blind. In the miracle itself, and in the ensuing drama, there are all kinds of connections for our lives. What does our faith call us to see? What do we see in our neighbors? What are we missing?

Floating Figures, Fear, and Faith – Signs of Life

This weekend we continued our Signs of Life series with one of the most hard to believe stories in the Gospel of John. We read that Jesus walks on water to his disciples – but what are we supposed to do with that? What is it that he is trying to get us to understand? And how could any of it possibly matter for our lives today? Check out this weekend’s sermon to get caught up!

Eucharisteō: Signs of Life

On Sunday at Common Grace we looked at one of the most familiar stories from the gospels – Jesus feeding the five thousand. In this story, we get a glimpse of what it means for us to be guests at the meal that Jesus provides. And we looked carefully at the question Jesus asks of his disciple, noting how much he can do when we feel like we have so little to offer. Check out the message here!:

Wanting Wellness: Signs of Life

Over the weekend we looked at Jesus’ encounter with the paralyzed man waiting to be healed. There are powerful messages about confronting broken structures and the wellness that so many of us are waiting on. We also talked about the good news that Jesus is the one who comes to seek us out and offer us healing.

Belief in Motion: Signs of Life

As we move forward in the Gospel of John, we see Jesus’ encounters with the Woman at the Well and the official whose son is sick. In these stories we see an important theme from John about including the outsiders. Plus, we reflect on what it means to have a faith that moves us and we find a promise that we can trust!

Bathtub Full of Wine: Signs of Life

This weekend, we begin to focus on the signs in John’s gospel. Over the next several weeks, we’ll look at Signs of Life. Jesus’ first miracle in John happens at a wedding in Cana, with the turning of water into wine. There’s a lot happening here, and we see an important reminder that Jesus chooses joy. Will we?

Remain

Today we being a new journey through John’s gospel. Together, we’ll explore what the Fourth Gospel is trying to teach us about this person, Jesus, and what his community has to teach us about how we live our faith. We begin that journey today just as Jesus begins his ministry – with his baptism in the Jordan River. Check out this weekend’s message as we reflect on John the Baptist and our own baptisms.
